History
The handcrafting of combs and hair ornaments in Oyonnax, France dates back to the 17th century. In the heart of the Jura Mountains, during the long winter days, the inhabitants carved combs from fine textured box wood which grew in the local forests Quickly, the fame of the hair combs and accessories of these talented artisans was recognized through their high quality design and craftsmanship. The arrival of plastics, allowed them to fully express their creativity and ingenuity. Now, renowned for its plastic industry, many of the world’s finest quality fashion accessories are made here.
